A Decade of Laughter & Learning: Jensen’s Next Chapter

Jensen first joined NBCF ten years ago as a shy 12-year-old who wasn’t quite sure how to find her way around the kitchen—let alone cook in it. Today, at 22, she’s graduating from our program with a toolbox full of skills, a heart full of memories, and a grin that could light up any room.
Over the past decade, Jensen has been our beautiful social butterfly, eager to make friends with everyone she met. She has always been the first to jump in, advocate for her peers, and, of course, get everyone laughing. From Girl Scouts and Robotics to Life Skills and her favorite activities—Pottery and Cooking—Jensen has done it all, attending programs nearly every single day.
Through her commitment and daily participation, she’s grown into a confident young adult who can whip up a healthy meal, clean her kitchen, and even perfect the art of her signature grilled cheese sandwich. These may sound like simple things, but for Jensen, they represent tremendous steps toward independence and self-reliance.
While it’s hard to imagine NBCF without her, we couldn’t be prouder of the progress she’s made. Jensen’s story is a shining example of what happens when a young person has access to the right support, encouragement, and opportunities to grow.
We’re so proud of her journey and can’t wait to see all she accomplishes next. As we wish Jensen all the best in her next chapter, we also look forward to the day she returns as a volunteer and role model for future students. Congratulations, Jensen!
