Volunteers are a key part of any successful community organization. They selflessly give their time, talent, ideas and heart. Nevada Blind Children's Foundation is grateful for the volunteers who have helped to make a difference in the lives of children with visual impairments and their families, here in southern Nevada.

On The Dot

Tuesday - Friday︱Ages: 5 - 22
This program provides personalized academic support for students who are visually impaired. With accessible materials and one-on-one guidance, we help students build confidence, stay on track with schoolwork, and reach their full potential in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1 per day
Great For: Individuals
What You'll be Doing: Support our students during their after-school academic time by offering patient, encouraging help with homework, reading, or skill-building games. Volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups and may help adapt materials for students who are blind or visually impaired.

Life Skills

Tuesdays︱Ages: 5-22
Life Skills program introduces students to everything from basic self-help skills such as bathing, grooming, and dressing to an advanced level that focuses around life skills that will support transitional skills such as telephone skills, time management, and money responsibilities.

Students are placed in a curriculum track based on their abilities. 

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1 per day
Great For: Individuals
What You'll be Doing: You’ll provide guidance and encouragement to students as they build independence and confidence in daily living tasks. Volunteers support instructors by offering one-on-one assistance, helping with hands-on activities, and creating a positive, inclusive environment.

STEAM

Wednesdays︱Ages: 5-22
Our STEAM program uses science, technology, engineering, art, and math to explore the world around us. Students will explore different activities that increase their problem-solving skills, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.

All students start at basic coding, which helps with coding, problem solving, teamwork and critical thinking skills. They then move through the curriculum based on their abilities. 

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1 per day

What You'll be Doing: Join our STEAM program and help blind and visually impaired students explore the exciting worlds of science, technology, engineering, art, and math! As a volunteer, you’ll support students as they engage in hands-on activities that build problem-solving skills, encourage collaboration, and spark creativity.

Cooking

Cooking: Thursdays︱Ages: 5 - 22
Whether cooking for themselves at home, or pursuing a culinary career - the Cooking program offers the skills necessary to become independent in the kitchen. The curriculum teaches everything from basic manners and table setting, to shopping for ingredients and learning how to follow recipes to create masterpiece dishes.

Students are placed in a curriculum track based on their abilities.

What You'll be Doing: Do you love to cook? Help our students perfect their culinary skills as they learn to shop for ingredients, follow a recipe, and cook up a delicious snack or meal for themselves. Volunteers work one-on-one or in small groups with students who are blind or visually impaired.

Game Night

Fridays︱Ages: 5 - 22
Game Night offers all of our program-aged students an opportunity to join their friends in a variety of adaptive games and activities. Whether your student is into sports or just looking to make new friends, Game Night allows students to let our some energy and start the weekend off with some fun!

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1 per day

What You'll be Doing: If you like to have fun and be active, this opportunity is for you! As a volunteer, you’ll support students as they engage in adaptive recreation programs that keep them active and engaged.

All Day Program

Mondays on Sept. 15 & Feb. 9︱Ages: 5 - 22
Our All Day Program offers full-day themed adventures packed with fun and creativity! Each session features a unique theme—like Fear Factor, Frozen Adventures, or a Valentine’s Day Dance—designed to engage students in exciting, hands-on activities. From crafts and games to music and movement, students enjoy a safe, inclusive environment where they can explore, connect, and have a blast all day long.

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1-2 per day

What You'll be Doing: Bring the fun to life in our themed All Day Program! Volunteers help with transitions, lunch, and group activities—making sure every child feels included, supported, and empowered throughout the day. It’s a great way to connect with students and be part of something memorable and meaningful!

Beep Baseball

Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025︱Ages: 5 - 22
Witnessing beep baseball is truly inspiring. These remarkable athletes, despite being visually impaired, fearlessly dive onto the ground to stop a beeping ball and then sprint 100 feet towards the sound of a buzzing base to score a run. It’s a traditional game adapted to include all players, fostering skill development, teamwork, and fun amidst intense competition for visually impaired students.

What You'll be Doing: Step up to the plate and join the fun! In Beeping Baseball, players use sound to track the ball—and volunteers are key to bringing the game to life. You’ll guide players to bases, retrieve balls, and give verbal cues to keep the action moving. It’s high-energy, inclusive, and a blast for everyone involved!

Open House

Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025︱All Ages
Join us for Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation’s Open House! Take a tour of our school and explore interactive, hands-on activities like pottery, braille, music, and more—just like our students do every day. Discover how we empower children with visual impairments through innovative programs and services. Come see the difference we’re making in their lives!

What You'll be Doing: Support a cause that matters! Volunteers help set the stage for a great event by assisting with setup, registration, guiding tours, and running fun, hands-on activity stations like pottery, braille, and music. It’s a great way to connect with the community and share the impact of our work!

Friendsgiving

Friday & Saturday, Nov. 14 & 15, 2025︱All Ages
Our students showcase their culinary skills gained in our Cooking program by preparing a festive Thanksgiving feast. The event includes a Friday night sleepover with games and crafts, followed by a Saturday luncheon where students celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends.

What You'll be Doing: Help bring our students’ culinary celebration to life! Volunteers assist with decorating, serving food, welcoming families, running fun games and craft stations, and helping with clean-up. It’s a heartwarming event full of food, fun, and festive cheer as students show off their cooking skills!

Holiday Party

Friday, Dec. 12, 2025︱All Ages
Celebrate the season at Nevada Blind Children’s Foundation’s festive Holiday Party! Kids can snap photos with Santa, get creative with ornament making, enjoy fun holiday-themed games, and strike a pose in cheerful photo booths. Each child will also receive a special gift to take home. It’s a joyful, inclusive celebration filled with laughter, creativity, and holiday cheer!

Beepin' Egg Hunt

Saturday, Mar. 28, 2026︱All Ages
Beepin’ Egg Hunt offers a unique experience that’s adapted for those with visual impairments, allowing them to participate in this Springtime tradition. Our eggs beep, giving everyone the chance to join in! Along with the hunt, we offer springtime activities for all families to enjoy.

What You'll be Doing: Hop into the fun at our Beepin’ Egg Hunt! Volunteers help hide sound-enabled eggs, guide kids through the hunt, serve food, and run spring-themed activity stations. One lucky volunteer even gets to suit up as the Spring Bunny! It’s a joyful, inclusive way to celebrate the season.

Summer Camp

June 1-26, 2026︱Ages: 5-22
Get ready for an unforgettable summer at our fun-filled Summer Camp for blind and visually impaired students! Each themed week features adapted activities that spark creativity, build confidence, and encourage exploration. Campers enjoy field trips to parks, attractions, and local businesses to discover the world, explore careers, and have a blast in a safe, inclusive setting.It’s four weeks of friendship, learning, laughter, and memories that last a lifetime!

Number of Volunteers Needed: 1-2 per day for the month
Great For: Individuals
What You'll be Doing: Help make summer unforgettable! Volunteers support campers throughout the day—from morning welcome to field trips, hands-on activities, and afternoon wrap-up. It’s four weeks of fun, learning, and lasting memories in a safe, inclusive environment where every moment makes a difference!
