After-School Programs

NBCF offers a variety of after-school programs for blind and visually impaired students, grades K thru 12.  Please complete the registration form to reserve your spot today!

Programs run 5pm to 7pm, Monday thru Friday at the NBCF Learning Center, a hot meal is served for all students attending programs.  If you need help arranging transportation to and from the NBCF Learning Center, please call our office at (702) 735-6223 to discuss available resources.

All of our after-school programs are offered at no cost, however, there is a one-time annual fee for students who wish to join the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts club.

All students must register and complete all required paperwork prior to attending program sessions.

Please note, programs during the 2019 Fall Semester will not be offered on days NBCF is closed: September 2, October 25 (Sibling Day), November 11, November and December 23-January 5.

Arts, Dance and Music

Mondays

Igniting creativity and imagination through the arts.

Monday night programs will offer a chance for NBCF students to get in touch with their creative side! An exploration of musiccreative arts and dance will provide a fun and educational experience that will teach students about collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Life Skills Class

Tuesdays
5pm - 7pm
Open to NBCF Students, grades K-12

Navigating valuable life skills together!

Designed to help students grow and learn, this class will also offer fun activities with peers. Key areas of focus in the fall semester will include cooking and getting dressed. In the spring the focus will shift to mobility, managing money, and shopping.

Robotics / STEAM

Wednesdays

Open to NBCF Students, grades K-12

Robotics is back! NBCF will sponsor three First Lego League teams to cover all grade levels. Program includes enrollment with First Lego League, competition fees (including transportation), and cost of robotics kits and technology necessary to compete.

Balancing out Wednesday night Programs will be a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) projects and studies.

Scouts & 4-H Club

Thursdays
5pm - 7pm
Open to NBCF Students, grades K-12

"Be Prepared" join Scouts today! Each troop will participate in regular activities and traditional fundraising initiatives (popcorn and cookie sales). There is a one-time annual membership fee. Scouting is open to siblings.

New to NBCF this year, students can also join the 4-H Club. 4-H empowers young people to lead for a lifetime with programs in science, healthy living and civic engagement. Through hands-on learning, kids build not only confidence, creativity and curiosity, but also life skills such as leadership and resiliency to help them thrive today and tomorrow. 4-H is also open to siblings.

Adaptive Recreation and Sports

Fridays
5pm - 7pm
Open to NBCF Students, grades K-12
No Cost

Adaptive recreation and sports support students is a fun way to help them develop mobility and flexibility, and it encourages active engagement in exercise and leisure activities. 

With an emphasis on movement and coordination. We play fun games such as human foosball, obstacle courses, mini-golf, and bowling.

(Some Friday Programs will be replaced by Fun Friday which must be registered for separately.)
